The McCain campaign has been linking Obama to terrorism and Islam from the beginning, but these tactics are now coming back to bite them. In a recent speech McCain gave to supporters, one woman stood up to ask a question and said that she was afraid of Obama as a President because he is an Arab. McCain took the mike away from her and said, "No, he is a decent family man."
There are several things wrong with this situation. First of all, that people still persist in the belief that Obama is Arabic in any way is ignorant. Another problem is McCain's answer, implying that Arab's aren't decent family men. I believe Jon Stewart puts it best (as he usually does) in his latest episode of the Daily Show. The part about Arabs is minutes 4-8 in the full epsiode or just watch the relevant clip.

He makes a good point that American people are so ignorant about the Middle East that many think Arab=Muslim=Terrorist, which is a very stereotypic and generalized view.
What I find interesting is that this tactic of labeling Obama as a terrorist is backfiring on McCain because of this ignorant link. Since Obama is a Muslim and hangs out with terrorists, QED he is an Arab. This absurd conclusion has pointed out the absurdity of the Muslim and Terrorist accusations and forced McCain to back off smearing his opponent, because his supporters have gone too far.
