Regarding Lee's Orientals, Lee discusses the portrayal, and common stereotype, of both Hisuru Tori in The Cheat and Cheng Huan in Broken Blossoms as Asian males attempting to make white females into prostitutes. Interestingly, despite the shared attempted outcome, Tori's approach is a violent one, while Huan takes a more gentle and caring approach. What do y'all think about the sharp contrast between the two males despite only a four year gap in the movie releases?
