Robin Williams on Tiger Woods

Hey All,

Henry Yu states in his conclusion that "The escape from hierarchical social structures in the US has almost invariably been described as the result of almost superhuman individual transcendence...The historical context for Tiger Wood's racial transcendence...must be seen in this light, rather than as some small glimmer of hope that he actually might solve racial and class inequalities that have been systematic in US society."

Do you agree with this statement? And, if Yu is correct, then what did Tiger Wood's enterence onto the PGA signify and what change, if any, has it brought about in the sports world and beyond?
